FAQs
You have questions? We have answers!
What do I need to start Calisthenics?
The most important thing to bring to class each week is a positive attitude and your team spirit!
Participants should bring a water bottle and wear a leotard or singlet with bike shorts or leggings.
Sub Junior, Juniors, Intermediates and Seniors will also need to have an aesthetic skirt, clubs and a rod.
Clubs and rods can be bought or hired from the club. Aesthetic skirts can be borrowed from the club or purchased from DanceWorld in Winnellie.
How often is training?
Attending regular training makes sure that everyone in the team can develop their skills, strength and flexibility to perform confidently.
Training classes are held weekly during school terms. You can find out more on term dates on our Classes page.
Our classes don't run during school holidays but competition teams may have special training sessions and cali camp events.
Do I have to join for the year?
Yes, if you are in a competition team it is important to stay involved with your team for the year.
The pinnacle of the Calisthenics calendar is the NT Calisthenics Association Team Championships and Frangipani Challenge held in term 4.
Our coaches work hard to choreograph routines that are best performed by all participants so we encourage you to participate for the whole year.
Is there a uniform?
We have some terrific Arafura Calisthenics Club training gear to help our participants stand out as a team. Competition members will need a club shirt to wear at competitions and club events
Our team shirts have a convenient button front so they can easily be taken on and off when hair and make-up have been done!
You can order your club gear through the Fly Hi Sports. Orders will open three times throughout the year, at the commencement of Term 1, through the mid year break and before team competitions. Contact Us for the password to access the Arafura Calisthenics Club merchandise catalogue.
When are competitions?
The Northern Territory Calisthenics Association hosts two competition events each year. Both events are held at the Darwin Entertainment Centre. The Solo, Duo and Graceful Championships are held in May and the Team Championships are in September or October each year. You can find out more about calisthenics competitions on the NTCA website.
What are the fees and what do they cover?
